Big Tree Acrylic Sketches

I think I mentioned every now and then that I have this unholy tendency for using rubbish to do art on. The "canvases" for this series of tree sketches is packing paper primed with wallpaint. I also used some better transparent gesso on it after sketching the drawings with coloured pencils, which improved the handling significantly, but as you can see, the paper has folds and warps and some crimping at the edges. Most of that is hidden now that I matted them from their about 17×25cm sizes to 30×40cm - and matting anything makes it look sooo much nicer! - but I really have to stop doing anything but the least important tryouts on this stuff. I used to see character in the paper upcycled this way, but I think using the good materials is better for everybody, most importantly, the work itself.
That being said, a few weeks ago I felt a need for enormous trees, rendered a few in some AI and used those as a basis. The execution is all me and I think I have AI mostly out of my system by now.
