Throned Fairy Queen

Based on a sketch a client didn't choose; this was originally imagined for a character who had been tricked into becoming a dark fairy queen, ruling over a court of animals and animal-esque subjects. I turned it into a slightly happier image of a seasoned queen enjoying the benefits of a nice throne, court mosquitoes dancing for her entertainment, and her favourite subjects all around. I had considered making her entirely otherworldly, or changing the animals from real ferrets and birds to whacky critters, but I liked the idea of the scarred cat-like queen enough to leave it at that. The handpiece is loosely based on one that Sarah Bernhard wore in an Alphonse Mucha painting.
