F*ck Capitalism Game Jam Artworks

Artworks I created for the F*ck Capitalism game jam on Itch.io ( https://itch.io/jam/fuck-capitalism-jam-2024 ). My task was to create the background artworks, UI, promotional images for the website, and title screens in game. Our game is called "The Somnium Effect" and deals with the terrible work conditions of the main character Robin, a mortician.

The title screen is split diagonally between the "home" and "work" places that Robin experiences, and uses lots of glitch effects when playing, flickering between either world.

The workplace I created in garish neon colours, reflecting the company creating an overwhelmingly "happy" life for its workers. Neon coloured ads would pop up during play that need to be clicked away to get to the actual work.

The home is comparison is the perfect suburban life, for which I created visual novel style images with soft gradients and pastel colours.

The strong perspective however is jarring to hint at things not being what they seem, to suggest players to look for the clues in dialogue with the characters.
