Mixed Media Surreal Portraits

During 2023 I tried various media and techniques to push my limits. Working on wood was very nice, canvas boards aren't really my thing, and glitter collage is a stupid idea unless you like the stuff ending up everywhere, making your place look like January 2nd all year long ;) The portrait with butterflies was a trad media follow-up to a digital piece I did for Month of Love way back when. Using pourings as background makes for exctiting textures but can be difficult in those where silicone oil was used, that dries - never. Priming or using oils is necessary. Image transfer is my biggest takeaway from the experiments, which is so much better than collage for me because the paper thickness isn't a factor that so far was always a nuisance.
